Ipod 5th generation 30gb wont charge?

I have an ipod 5th generation with video playback and it wont charge for some reason. When it boots up i get the sad ipod face. The sad ipod face means that it has hard drive problems but the hard drive spins. I tried restore with itunes and no luck. Sometimes it would turn on if I keep it in the wall charger but it says charging for hours and hours. I did a charge overnight and still nothing. It keeps having the low battery sign.... is there anything i can do????
