Any tips on how to keep bangs to the side?

I have soft, thin hair so it never really stays to the side. I tried the "clip it to the side & leave it there overnight" trick, but it leaves a dent in my hair. I rarely have days where my bangs cooperate with me and it's really annoying :( Help!
