What should I do for my sweet 16 birthday?

NOT a big party. I'm planning on having like 3 or 4 guys, 3 girls, and my immediate family. My birthday is in August. I live in NJ, right outside of nyc. However, doing stuff in nyc can be expensive! I also thought of going to Atlantic City for the night, but my parents aren't comfortable with being responsible for all of us overnight. Ideas?
