What was Einstien exactly?
Einstein, like many of us had a complicated relationship with religion throughout his life. He did in fact devote himself to Judaism during two periods of his life (once as a child and again as a young physicist), but in the end he was a Deist. He did not believe in a personal god, but instead thought of God as the driving source behind all creation who's mind we would be able to understand if we could unravel the physical principles that govern the universe. He often referred to God as "The Old Man" in his speech and it is evident that he did believe in a supernatural source for why there is something instead of nothing.
