How to even out a farmers tan?

I am really tan on my forearms and legs but everything else is pale. I can't just go out on the sun because I look dumb being so uneven and also tend to freckle instead of get dark. Would a tanning bed or spray tan (mystic) be a good solution and if so how do I go about doing it.( how long , how often)
